Commercial
SPCA100 panel 31 kW system. Looking for long term cost savings for a non-profit organization. Solar was part of the retrofit that included updated ventilation and other energy saving measures. Pat Cameron, director of the Saskatoon SPCA, describes the special needs of the facility that make solar power such a good fit: "Due to chemicals, animal and other waste, water consumption, and 24/7 operations, animal shelters have a huge environmental footprint and consume massive amounts of energy. Both the financial savings and carbon reduction are wins for the shelter, which as a charity is keenly interested in control of expenses." The SPCA solar power system won the Rob Dumont Project of the Year Award in 2017.
Commercial
SES Solar Coop - Two Twenty Building
90 panel 27.45 kW system. Looking to offset some power usage (power exceeded the ability for for the area of the roof to generate power with current technology) as well as lay the groundwork for group ownership and financing of solar projects for those that could not afford to outright buy their own solar power systems.
Off Grid
Remote Cabin
Northern Off-grid cabin. In a location in which grid power was unlikely to ever be brought in. Owners wanted a power system that would fulfill their needs for a comfortable cabin at the lake and be reliable. Offers internet monitoring of most systems, including generator startup, and battery charge levels.
Agricultural
Farm/Barn Rooftop
This farm had very high power usage and no suitable location for a ground mounted array. They did have a large barn though with enough roofspace for a 20 kW, 55 panel system on 3 different roof slopes.
Ground Mount
Large Farm Ground Mount System
Farm with no natural gas, so electrical bills were very high. A 33.3 kW system has covered most of his usage. The system size was limited by the size of the farm electrical transformer.
Residential
House / Shop Rooftop near Regina
This 9.13 kW, 25 panel rooftop system, on a farm near Regina, was mounted on the available south facing roof space on the house and on a small shop.
